Vol. 236 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cook-Sprague Report.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why Deputies were not supplied with copies of the Cook-Sprague report on the Irish dairy industry.

There was no departure from normal practice in connection with this report. Copies were presented to both Houses of the Oireachtas and the report published in the usual way.

Does the Minister not think that an important report of this kind should be circulated to Deputies of the House?

Deputy, it is not a matter of what I think.

Deputies do not know whether this is available or not until something like that happens.

Deputies did not know although it has been available in the House for the past two or three months.

If we ask for a copy will we get it?

See if it is worth looking for a copy.

Give us one to bring home.

What will you do with it if you bring it home?

Did the Minister go to the trouble of announcing that this was available in the House at any time?

Have I to go around schooling Deputies who are as long in the House as I am about the procedure in regard to matters published in this way and in regard to which the normal practice was followed of placing it in the Library after being presented? I think this schooling is not required. If the Deputy requires it, his colleagues do not. Deputy Flanagan knows where to get this report. Deputy Clinton does not.
