Vol. 237 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Schemes.

49.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will restore the minor employment schemes and bog development schemes in order to avoid serious flooding in many parts of the country, as such schemes were the best way to have drainage work carried out and the best way to protect bog roads.

It is not proposed to re-introduce the minor employment schemes and bog development schemes.

Works heretofore carried out under those schemes can now be done under the local improvements scheme which is operated by the county councils.
