Vol. 237 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estate.

100.

asked the Minister for Lands the position regarding the estate of persons (names supplied) in Gardenfield, Tuam, County Galway, which has been offered for sale recently.

There are no proceedings for the acquisition of the holding referred to; at this stage my information is that the holding was sold recently.

Were the Land Commission not aware that this estate was for sale prior to it being sold?

As far as I know, inquiries are being made but the Land Commission had not been notified about the details of the sale.

I understand the Land Commission were notified that the lands were up for sale. Could the Minister say will this estate come into the hands of the Land Commission?

It is a matter for the Land Commission to make a decision as to whether they will take it over or not.

I should like to say that the Land Commission were slow in acting.
