Vol. 237 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turnover Tax Yield.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of turnover tax collected on foodstuffs to the latest available date.

Turnover tax is payable monthly in one sum by registered persons on their total receipts from sales of taxable goods to unregistered persons. No breakdown of the totals is required by reference to sales of particular commodities, and consequently it is not possible to state the amount of turnover tax derived from sales of foodstuffs.

Will there be no estimate of the amount, or even a percentage, of the total turnover tax which will be applicable to foodstuffs?

I am afraid not.
