Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation.

123.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will take steps, if necessary by the introduction of legislation, to increase workmen's compensation from £4 10s per week to a figure which takes account of the present cost of living.

I would refer the Deputy to a reply which I gave to a similar question on 17th November, 1966. I would add to that reply that the Social Welfare (Occupational Injuries) Act was brought into full operation on the 1st May, 1967.
