Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Plant and Machinery Payments.

135.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what percentage of the total cost of plant and machinery was paid for by the State for private industry between 1948 and 1968; and what this amount is in money terms.

From the initiation in January, 1952, of the grant schemes now administered by An Foras Tionscal up to the 31st March, 1968, the total amount paid in grants by An Foras Tionscal for land, buidings, building services, machinery and factory equipment was £27,180,000. It is estimated that about £16,500,000 of this amount was in respect of plant and machinery and that this represented about 31 per cent of the total cost of plant and machinery.
