Vol. 237 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Tourist Trade.

45.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he can give any indication of the likely repercussions for the Irish tourist trade of the present economic restrictions in France and Great Britain.

The economic restrictions now in operation in France and Britain are likely to affect our tourist earnings from those countries. The position is being kept under review by Bord Fáilte. The board hope that it will be possible to counter these restrictions by adapting their promotional activities in the two countries concerned and in other markets where compensatory increases in tourist traffic may be obtained.
