Vol. 237 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ground Rents.

88.

asked the Minister for Justice whether the recommendation of the Landlord and Tenant Commission that recreational clubs be given the right to purchase their ground rents or secure renewals of leases will be brought into amending legislation in relation to ground rents; and if such amending legislation will be retrospective to the date of the recommendation.

The Landlord and Tenant Commission in their latest report (Pr. 59), recommend that recreational clubs should have the right to obtain new leases in certain circumstances. The commission did not recommend that such clubs be given the right to purchase the fee simple.

I am examining the commission's report with a view to seeing whether amending legislation should be introduced.
