In so far as those services for which I have ministerial responsibility are concerned, no specific proposal is being considered. I would, however, draw the Deputy's attention to the effective steps taken by the Government to protect ratepayers from the full impact of increases in the cost of local services by the substantial increases in the level of State grants and subsidies to local authorities, particularly in recent years.
