Vol. 238 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cavan Housing.

20.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government if he will explain the delay in providing a cottage for a person (name supplied) in County Cavan; and when the cottage will be provided.

I have been informed by the county council that this applicant has been living in a rented dwelling which is in good condition and that it was only recently that the council decided to re-house him because the owner of the house was seeking vacant possession. A proposal to provide a prefabricated dwelling in this case was submitted to my Department on 21st January, 1969, and was approved within a week.

(Cavan): Do I understand the Minister to say that the proposal to supply a prefabricated dwelling for the person mentioned in this question was submitted to his Department recently and has been approved?

Yes, within a week.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government if he will explain the delay in providing a prefabricated house for a person (name supplied) in County Cavan against whom court proceedings are pending for recovery of possession of the house now occupied by her; and when this new house will be provided.

No proposals for the provision of housing accommodation in this case have been submitted to my Department. I have asked the county council for a report in the case and when its is received I will send it to the Deputy.
