Vol. 238 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Dublin Traffic Wardens.

44.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of traffic wardens at present employed in Dublin city; the total revenue collected from fines since the introduction of traffic wardens; how this compares with the total collected for a similar period last year; and if it is his Department's intention to increase the number of wardens in the next year.

The number of traffic wardens in the Dublin metropolitan area on 31st January was 98.

The total amount received in respect of that area during the period 1st October, 1968, to 31st January, 1969 in respect of fines "on-the-spot" was £27,436. The total for the same period in 1967/68 was £23,350.

The present total number of traffic wardens, including those in Cork, is 118, and I aim to increase this total to 200.
