Vol. 238 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Textile Industry Courses.

45.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the complaint in the recent IDA report on industrial grants that insufficient attention is paid to providing courses appropriate to the textile industry in western vocational schools, he will take immediate steps to remove this obstacle to increased employment in the west.

The provision of educational courses of the kind referred to is primarily a matter for the vocational education committee for the area concerned. Where there is a sufficient number of suitable applicants to warrant establishing such a course, I am always prepared to sanction it.
