I am informed by CIE that the contracts in question did not include maintenance provisions. CIE maintains its own rolling stock and it does not require suppliers of new equipment to maintain it.
The contracts did include, however, guarantee cluses requiring the contractor to remedy, within a specified period, any defect due to faulty design, workmanship or material.
