Vol. 238 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Creameries Amalgamation.

7.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will give an assurance that, in any future scheme of amalgamation of creameries in the Limerick region, the position of the Condensed Milk Company's plant at Lansdowne, Limerick will be safeguarded; and what plans, if any, are being formulated to expand the capacity of the Lansdowne plant.

In any proposals for rationalisation of the creameries in the Limerick area which supply milk to the Lansdowne factory, regard would, of course, be had to the position of the factory.

The capacity of the factory was increased last year. The question of further development of processing facilities there is at present being examined but no conclusions have yet been reached.
