Vol. 238 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Coast Erosion.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance what proposals have been submitted for dealing with the problem of coastal erosion at Wicklow, County Wicklow; when approximately such proposals will be sanctioned; and when it is expected that the necessary work will commence.

The Commissioners of Public Works received two proposals from the Wicklow County Council for this area, one for Wicklow Harbour (North Quay) and the other for the Murrough (North Beach). An examination of the Wicklow Harbour proposal has not yet been undertaken and I cannot say at this stage if or when a scheme may be sanctioned. The preparation of a scheme for the Murrough has been sanctioned and a scheme will shortly be sent to the County Council for consideration. An effort will be made to have the work started this year.
