Vol. 239 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Pension Increase.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a person (name supplied) in County Dublin who was formerly employed by the Westmeath County Council has not yet received a pension increase awarded in the Budget of last year; and if he will arrange to have this increase and arrears paid forthwith.

I indicated to all local authorities, including Westmeath County Council, on 22nd November, 1968, that it was open to them to pay increases in certain pensions with effect from 1st August, 1968. While payment of the increase to particular pensioners is a matter for the local authorities, I understand that the person to whom the question refers has in fact been paid the increase and arrears.
