Vol. 239 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income Tax Reliefs.

28.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider relief of income tax on the portion of income paid in rates.

I am afraid that, for budgetary and other reasons, I could not consider this proposal.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider further the possibility of an allowance for income tax purposes for a person who is obliged to employ a housekeeper owing to being disabled in any way.

Alteration of the personal allowances for Income Tax purposes is a budgetary matter and the Deputy will understand that I could not at this stage give any indication as to what the budget statement might or might not contain.

Can the Minister give any indication whether this proposal to allow relief for income tax purposes in respect of a non-relative would involve many cases?

It would involve quite a few.
