Vol. 239 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nuclear Powered Electricity.

3.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what plans there are for the production of electricity from nuclear power in Ireland.

I have, as yet, nothing to add to the reply I made to a question on 13th November, 1968, when I said that no decision had been taken by the Government or the ESB to establish a nuclear power station but that it seems that it will be a necessary step within the next ten years so that we will not have too great a dependence on any one kind of fuel; and that the ESB are meantime arranging suitable training for the necessary engineering staff.
