Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Housebreaking and Burglary in Dublin.

44.

(Dublin South-Central) asked the Minister for Justice the number of cases of (a) housebreaking and (b) burglary that took place in the Dublin metropolitan area in 1968; and the number of convictions in such cases.

The latest available statistics relate to the year ended 30th September last. The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

NOTE: In addition to the cases covered by these figures, 87 housebreakings and 5 burglaries were successfully cleared up by the Gardaí. These are cases that were either dealt with under the Juvenile Liaison Scheme or taken into account by the courts in dealing with other prosecutions against the same offenders.
