Vol. 239 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplementary Housing Grants.

16.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps if necessary by the introduction of legislation to ensure that county councils pay supplementary housing grants to residents of urban districts or areas administered by town commissioners, who otherwise qualify for supplementary grants, where the population of the urban district or town commission area at the last census did not exceed 7,500 persons.

The matters raised in this question and other relevant aspects of housing are at present under review.

(Cavan): Would the Minister agree with me that these supplementary grants should be paid within the area of these small urbans and that it is difficult if not impossible for the small urbans covered by the question to pay these supplementary grants out of their funds without hardship?

Yes, that is appreciated.
