Vol. 239 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reconstruction Grants.

andMr. Donnellan asked the Minister for Local Government when reconstruction grants were last increased; the percentage increase in cost of material and labour since then; the drop in the value of the £1 since then; and if he will now make a substantial increase in grants towards reconstruction of dwelling houses.

As regards grants for reconstruction which were last increased in 1958, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 17 of 5th December, 1968, and Question No. 30 of 20th March, 1969. As regards the remainder of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the reply by the Taoiseach to Question No. 6 on the 19th March, 1969.

Poor Deputy Calleary will not get an answer to Question No. 25.

Is the Minister in a position to state the present value of the reconstruction grants in terms of money values as at 1958, when they were increased?

No, but the Deputy will be able to make that out from the Taoiseach's reply to Question No. 6 of 19th March last.

If the Minister were in any way helpful, he would give the information now but he is not helpful.
