I assume that the Deputy is referring to the cost of providing a free general practitioner service for the entire community. Such a scheme would cover about two million more persons than are at present covered. What it would cost would depend on the rates of remuneration determined. I would expect that the extra cost of such a service, including the free supply of prescribed drugs and medicines, should be up to £20 million a year.
