Vol. 241 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Banagher (Offaly) Bridge.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to erect the new bridge over the River Shannon at Banagher, County Offaly; if he is aware that this proposal has been under consideration for many years; and that the existing bridge is the cause of great inconvenience, not alone to the users but to everyone living in the district because of the noise of transport passing over it in its present state; and what he proposes to do about the matter.

Draft contract drawings and specification for the reconstruction of Banagher bridge were submitted to my Department by Offaly County Council on 13th June, 1969, and are at present under examination. It is expected that a decision will be issued shortly.
