Vol. 241 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Haulage.

54.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what progress has been made by the interdepartmental study group set up to examine in depth long-term proposals for the liberalisation of road haulage; and what expert guidance is available to this study group.

The inter-departmental study group was directed to deal firstly with the transport of livestock and the group has furnished its report on this subject. It was later asked to report on the transport of unit load traffic to and from shipping services. I expect to receive the group's report on this subject at an early date.

The group includes in its membership a professional economist and an engineer with specialised knowledge of transport and consults as necessary with transport operators and other interests.
