Vol. 241 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Vocational School.

102.

asked the Minister for Education why the new vocational school in Ballyfermot, Dublin, is being segregated on a sex basis when other comprehensive schools have been established as mixed schools; whether before taking this decision he received representations on this matter from or consulted with any interests; and, if so, what interests.

While the education given in the school which the Deputy has in mind may be comprehensive in nature, it is not a comprehensive school but a vocational school. It was established as a school for boys by the City of Dublin Vocational Educational Committee by which it is administered. All the usual local interests were fully consulted before the school was established.
