Vol. 242 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Capital.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government the amount of capital moneys voted to his Department for new housing of all kinds in this financial year; the amount paid out to date to all recipients, whether local authorities or individuals; and the amount for which final sanction has been extended, but in respect of which payments have not been made to date.

The total capital provision under the control of my Department for new housing in 1969-70 is £28.6 million. Payments up to 30th September, 1969, to individuals and local authorities, out of the total capital allocation for housing amounted to £13.8 million. A balance of £14.8 million remains available for the second half of the current year.

Does the Minister expect that this will be spent?

I hope so.
