Note: The amounts collected and the grants allocated in any year do not agree because:—
(1) grants are allocated at the commencement of the year and are based on estimated income,
(2) administration costs (cost of collection, enforcement, salaries etc.) are a prior charge on the Road Fund, and
(3) the 25% increase in motor taxation on private vehicles imposed by the Finance Act, 1966, is retained in the Exchequer for general Exchequer purposes.
