Vol. 242 No. 9

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Sports Field.

59.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress the Land Commission have made regarding the transfer of the sports field at Loughrea, County Galway, to trustees nominated by the Gaelic Athletic Association; and if he will give full details of the proposed scheme to transfer this sports field.

The trust scheme under which an area of 16½ acres at Castlewalter, Loughrea, was held for many years was revoked by the Land Commission in May, 1968. Arrangements will be formulated as soon as possible for the disposal of the lands. In this connection an application for the provision of a sports field for the local GAA club will be fully considered. The local Land Commission inspectors have already had discussions with GAA representatives about their requirements in relation to a proposed playing pitch.
