asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (a) the present value of bull premiums of the various breeds, (b) when these premiums were last adjusted and (c) when he expects to increase them.

The answer to (a) and (b) is in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report; (c) the premiums are reviewed annually and the position for the coming year is at present under consideration. Following is the statement relating to (a) and (b):

I. Dairy Shorthorn and Friesian entered in the Register:

(i) where the sire is approved and dam is entered in the Register and has a record of 10,000 lb. or over, of milk containing a calculated yield of not less than 360 lb. of butter-fat with an average test for butter-fat of not less than 3.3 per cent.

(An approved sire is a bull which has been progeny tested and approved on the basis of the performance of his progeny in relation to milking capabilities, heifer conformation and beef qualities and has been entered in the Department's List of Approved Progeny Tested Sires.)
