Vol. 243 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Water Supplies.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government what steps have been taken by Dublin Corporation to improve the water supply in the Dartry, Rathmines, Ranelagh and Rathgar districts; and especially what steps have been taken in this regard since the Commissioner appointed by him to replace Dublin Corporation took up office.

The maintenance of an adequate water supply to all the areas within their district is a matter for the sanitary authority.

Is the Minister not aware that for many years the pressure of water in the upper reaches of Rathmines, Dartry, Rathgar, Terenure, all that area, is completely inadequate?

I am not so aware. There may have been some difficulty this year, because it was a particularly dry year.

I can assure the Minister that the pressure is altogether better down here in the middle of the city than it is in that area.

That is natural.

The pressure is very poor up there.
