Vol. 243 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from the Kerry County Council for a water scheme for Caherdaniel; and, if so, if he has approved these proposals.

There has been no change in the position since my reply to the Deputy's Question, No. 29 of 22nd July last, when I stated that the local authority did not regard this scheme as having a high priority in their water supply programme.

56.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from the Kerry County Council for the relaying of the old water mains in Ventry village; and, if so, if he has given approval to enable the work to start.

There are no proposals before my Department in this matter.

57.

asked the Minister for Local Government when a special water and sewerage scheme for Windtown, Navan, County Meath, was received by his Department from Meath County Council; and when it is proposed to sanction it.

As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 84 of the 23rd October, 1969, I have already approved preliminary proposals for stage 1 of An Uaimh and mid-Meath regional water supply scheme, which includes an extension to Windtown. I am advised, however, that it would not be feasible to carry out the Windtown extension until such time as a new trunk main is laid from Kilcarne works to the town. This main is to be constructed as part of An Uaimh urban district council water supply improvement scheme. Contract documents for that work are at present under consideration in my Department and I hope to convey a decision thereon shortly.

There are no proposals before my Department for a sewerage scheme for Windtown.

58.

asked the Minister for Local Government if tenders have been received by the Offaly County Council and proposals submitted for sanction in the case of Banagher sewerage scheme, County Offaly; the cause of delay in this case; and if he will treat the matter as one of urgency.

A proposal by the county council to accept a tender for this scheme is being examined by my technical advisers. I hope to convey a decision shortly.

59.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received preliminary proposals for the extension of the sewerage scheme at Kilcormac, County Offaly, and if he will have this matter examined and sanction given as a matter of urgency.

A preliminary report for this scheme was received in my Department recently and is being examined.

60.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in giving his sanction to Portarlington sewerage scheme, County Offaly; and if he will immediately convey his decision to the local authority in the matter.

I have approved Offaly County Council's proposals for this scheme.

61.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received contract proposals for extension of Shinrone sewerage scheme, County Offaly; and if he will now give his sanction so that this work may be undertaken without delay.

Contract documents for the Shinrone sewerage scheme have not been received in my Department.
