asked the Minister for Education how many classes in national schools in Dublin and the rest of the country respectively now have over 55 pupils, 50-55, 45-50, 40-45, and 35-40 pupils; how many classes fell into each of these categories five years ago; and how many classes of all sizes exist now and existed five years ago in national schools.

An analysis of class sizes in national schools on 1st February, 1963 and 1st February, 1968, the latest date for which such analysis is available, is given in the table below. The information is not available in the precise form requested by the Deputy.
