Vol. 243 No. 6

Written Answers. - Examination Results.

173.

asked the Minister for Education how many pupils entered from (a) secondary schools and (b) vocational schools, passed and secured one, two, three, four, five, six or more honours in the intermediate and leaving certificate examinations respectively in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969; and the total number of those who entered for these examinations from these schools.

The information already compiled in my Department is not in a form which would enable the information sought in the Deputy's question to be furnished. In order to answer the question it would be necessary to engage a large staff in making out a further detailed analyis of the results of the intermediate and the leaving certificate examinations during the past four years.

If this were to be done it would interfere with the carrying out of the ordinary work in the secondary branch of my Department to an extent which would be unwarranted.
