Vol. 243 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - RTE Authority.

117.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if his attention has been drawn to the report of the seminar held in Cork at which a call was made on the Government to appoint a commission to study and make proposals for the appointment of a new RTE Authority which would be representative of all the people of the State and for the financing of the national broadcasting service so that it would be completely free from the economic pressures of commercial advertising; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have seen press reports of the seminar referred to. There are no plans at present for the setting up of a commission of the kind suggested.
