Vol. 244 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - School of Medicine.

8.

Dr. Browne, Mr. M. O'Leary

andDr. O'Connell asked the Minister for Health whether it is proposed to establish at St. Kevin's hospital a post-graduate school of medicine.

The Deputies are no doubt aware of the current negotiations on the re-organisation of the hospital services in Dublin arising from the report of the consultative council on the general hospital services. If, as I hope, these negotiations proceed to a satisfactory conclusion, a major general hospital will be developed on the St. Kevin's Hospital site. I have presumed that medical teaching would appropriately be carried on in a hospital of this kind but the nature and extent of arrangements for post-graduate teaching there has yet to be worked out.
