Vol. 244 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo County Council Workers.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of a lay off of workers by Mayo County Council in recent times with consequent serious hardships to wives and families; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this situation.

The timing of their programme of works is a matter for the local authority. All local authorities have been asked to seek to arrange their work programmes so as to avoid serious dislocation of labour from time to time but for some fluctuations are unavoidable. I am not aware that the position is as the Deputy states.
