Vol. 245 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Medical Officer.

13.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department are as yet aware of any intention on the part of Laois County Council to appoint a resident medical officer for the Stradbally area.

The Laois County Council were unable to appoint a resident district medical officer for the Stradbally dispensary district when the post became vacant a year ago. In the meantime, a service has been provided for eligible persons by a doctor from an adjoining district. I understand that the local authority re-advertised recently in the hope of securing the services of a resident doctor. No proposal to appoint a resident doctor has so far been submitted for my approval arising out of this advertisement.
