The proposed exploratory drilling off the coast of Cork will be carried out by Marathon Petroleum Ireland Ltd. An agreement has been concluded with this company setting out the terms on which exploration licences and leases are granted authorising the company to explore areas in the continental shelf. Copies of this agreement have been laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.
