Vol. 246 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Security Reports.

32.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is satisfied that all security reports submitted to his Department over the past 12 months have been retained in safe keeping; when the question of the smuggling of arms into this country was first adverted to in these reports; and what action was taken thereon.

The answer to the first part of the question is "yes". As regards the second part, I would refer the Deputy to the statements already made by the Taoiseach in the course of which he explained that, because certain matters are now under consideration by the Attorney General, the question of publication of any additional information must be deferred.

Does the security section of the Minister's Department report directly to the Taoiseach now or indirectly through the Minister himself?

It reports to me and I inform the Taoiseach.

There is no direct report to the Taoiseach?

Not at the present moment.

Are the lines being tapped?
