26.

asked the Minister for Defence when the former Director of Army Intelligence resigned.

The immediate predecessor of the present Director of Intelligence did not resign. He retired with effect from the 9th April, 1970, on reaching the age for retirement prescribed in Defence Force regulations for officers of his rank.

27.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of officers and men currently serving in the intelligence section of the Army.

I consider that it would not be in the interests of security to furnish the information requested by the Deputy.
