Vol. 247 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Care of Aged.

14.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will extend the scheme whereby a female relative such as a sister, a half sister, a daughter, step daughter, a grand daughter, daughter-in-law, or a niece would qualify for an allowance for providing full time care and attention to an old age pensioner whose land valuation does not exceed £30 and whose income does not exceed £500.

The scheme in question already applies to all persons in receipt of old age pension from my Department whether contributory or non-contributory. A person with means of £500 per annum would not come within the category of persons eligible for non-contributory pension.
