Vol. 248 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Artificial Flowers.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the annual value of imported artificial flowers over the past few years; where and to what extent artificial flowers are manufactured in this country; and if he has any suggestions to make with a view to increasing the utilisation of natural (non-artificial) blooms in hotels, holiday resorts, etc.

I am informed by the Central Statistics Office that separate statistics are not kept for imports of artificial flowers. Manufacture of artificial flowers is carried on in this country but not on a large scale. The greater utilisation of natural blooms is not a matter for me as I have no functions in relation to either the tourist or the horticultural industry.
