Vol. 248 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meeting with British Foreign Secretary.

11.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if either himself or the Ambassador in London was asked to call on the British Foreign Secretary on 7 July 1970; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At my meeting with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary on 29th June it was agreed that a further meeting would, if necessary, take place before the 13th July. This further meeting took place on the 7th July and was cordial and constructive.

Were any undertakings given by either side at the end of the discussion?

The Deputy will have to be much clearer about what he is talking. No undertakings were given as far as I know but if the Deputy will explain what his question means I shall try to answer it.

The Minister knows well what I mean. What is a conversation which is cordial? Has the Minister any plans for future meetings?

On a similar topic?

I think it desirable that we keep in constant communication.

Were any undertakings given about a future meeting?

No undertakings were given but arrangements were made.
