Vol. 248 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Effects of Cement Strike.

32.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the estimated number of completed construction units which would have been eligible for State grants from his Department which will be lost in the present financial year because of the cement strike.

As far as my Department are concerned the only grant-aided construction units which have been appreciably affected by the cement strike are those which come under the farm buildings scheme. It is not possible to estimate reliably at this stage how many such units will, as a result of the strike, remain unfinished by the end of the financial year. The extent to which work will be accelerated as cement supplies become available could influence the position very materially.
