asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (a) the number of persons employed in his Department to combat pig smuggling; and (b) if it is his intention to appoint any in the near future.

No staff are employed by my Department for this purpose, nor is it intended to employ such staff. The prevention of illegal import of pigs is, of course, the responsibility of the Revenue Commissioners.

Is the Minister aware that, according to the book of evidence, when he found Captain Kelly to be unsatisfactory——

The Deputy is completely out of order. He is abusing the privileges of the House.

——Mr. Blaney promised to have him appointed as an anti-pig smuggler?
