Vol. 248 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widening of Dublin Thoroughfare.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the hazards to pedestrians and car-owners in negotiating Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin; if he has any plans for widening the thoroughfare; and, if so, when he intends to implement these plans.

The preparation and implementation of plans for the improvement of Carysfort Avenue are matters for Dún Laoghaire Corporation and Dublin County Council who are the responsible road authorities. I am aware that both authorities are in consultation regarding the matter.

Carysfort Avenue will be affected by the Blackrock by-pass scheme. I have approved the acceptance of a tender for stage 1 of that scheme. The work involved will include the reconstruction of part of Carysfort Avenue.

I have also approved in principle outline proposals submitted by Dún Laoghaire Corporation for an improvement scheme for a further section of the road.
