Vol. 249 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - NIEC.

15.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state with reference to a reply of 15th July, 1969, if the Government have yet reached a decision on the need to introduce necessary measures to ensure effective representation from the agricultural sector on the National Industrial Economic Council.

As I indicated in replies to Dáil questions on 22nd October, 1969, 5th February, 1970, and 29th April, 1970, the Government decided on the formation, in succession to the National Industrial Economic Council, of a National Economic Council which would include representatives of agriculture and other sectors not at present represented. The question of agricultural representation is one of a number at present under active consideration, in consultation with the interested parties, on the establishment of the new council. The necessary arrangements will be finalised as soon as possible.
