Vol. 249 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Overtime Pay.

59

asked the Minister for Justice if all overtime pay due in respect of overtime worked and not compensated for by way of time off in lieu has been paid to members of the Garda Síochána concerned; when the new disciplinary regulations recommended by the Conroy Commission will be brought into operation.

Payment for overtime is a continuing process and it is not possible at any time to say definitely that all overtime pay due has been paid or, in fact, even claimed. I am satisfied, however, that there is no undue delay in paying overtime claims.

In regard to the disciplinary regulations I have approved generally, as a basis for discussion, proposals presented to me by the commissioner and have asked him to join in discussions in the immediate future with my Department and the Garda Representative Bodies with a view to producing a final draft.
