Vol. 249 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Subsidies.

39.

andMr. T. O'Donnell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether any change of policy is to take place in respect of State subsidies to agriculture; and if he will make a statement thereon.

State subsidies to agriculture are kept constantly under review in the light of changing circumstances. As the House is aware, certain alterations in existing support arrangements were recommended in the report of the committee on the review of state expenditure in relation to agriculture which was published in August last in order to stimulate public discussion of the issues involved. Agricultural support policy is, of course, liable to be affected at any time by developments in export trading conditions.
