Vol. 249 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Motor Thefts.

60.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of motor vehicles stolen in Cork borough and county during the last two years; and the number recovered.

I assume that the question is intended to include cars taken without the owner's consent even though, in most cases, this is not stealing in the legal sense.

A total of 378 motor vehicles were taken unlawfully in Cork city and county in the year ended 30th September, 1969, of which 373 were recovered. The corresponding figures for the year ended 30th September, 1970, are 497 and 477.
